KT TUNSTALL
2005, 7th september
Café de la Danse - Paris
After some e-mails exchanges with her, i had the chance to meet miss "woo-hoo" kt tunstall for the first music interview of r99m e-zine and before one of her first french gig.
That was the first one i made "live" and in english. Beside her in the taxi guiding us to the gig after a tv show recording, i discovered with pleasure a passionate and humble artist.

--- so what about the beginning of this european tour ?
well we started our first european tour about four days ago and we played in berlin, cologne and amsterdam and we were so pleasantly surprised because it's very difficult to know how you will be received in your first gigs you know and i personnaly love play in small venues, big venues are great too, but it's very familiar to me to play in small places so it was nice to go playing in small venues again.
And tonight, it's the first gig with the band in france and it's just so exciting, i mean, all i ever wanted to do is play music and travel and play so that's really cool ... (laughing).
--- where, when and how do you write your songs ?
i'm a quite impulsive so i just have an idea and i don't worry too much about feeling pressure to write all the time cause i know that it will just come so i see a word or a phrase or hear a melody and i just sit with the guitar and usually my better songs are coming very very quickly and it feels more like
remembering than writing, you know what i mean, they are almost already there, ... when they come (laughing).
--- whose lyrics do you admire ?
i love bob dylan, he's like a story-teller cause he's just getting very well in the character that he sings about and i think carole king is amazing, it is so simple and so effective, it's real you know, she
